John Hall for CongressSo yes, I’m officially working for a Rock Star. John Hall, best known for the insanely catchy tunes “Still the One” and “Dance With Me,” is running in New York’s 19th district to defeat a Tom Delay crony.

(Forgive the site design … relaunch coming soon)

On top of chart-topping hits, John has a very progressive platform, a solid record as a NY State lawmaker, has won numerous elections in Republican districts, and really knows how to work a crowd. (Three decades in showbiz will teach you that.) Plus, it doesn’t hurt to have friends like Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Linda Rondstat, Carly Simon and Jackson Browne, who is giving a series of concerts on John’s behalf.

But the most important reason I’m working for John is that he’s a family friend. My parents did no-nukes and environmental work with him back in the 80s. My sister was his daughter’s classmate. It feels even better to be working for a hometown hero than a rock star. Lucky me, John is both!

Early in 2005, my iBook was stolen right off my desk, probably in broad daylight. Total nightmare. Never got it back. So I was thrilled when Keith Hall (aka Mac programmer genius) showed me Undercover: a unique theft-recovery application designed from the ground up for Mac OS X.

It’s basically spyware that you launch on your own Mac if it get pinched. Sends you screenshots of the thief’s activities, triangulates their IP address for physical location, and even takes photos of the thief if you have an iSight.

Fan-frickin-tastic.

In the past 2 days, three Congressional jobs have landed in my lap — and their sites are all going to be built on a drupal platform. Problem is, I’ve run out of bodies to do the work! Where did all the drupal geeks go?

If anyone knows any drupal implementors out there, please, send them my way! Email tate a-t tatehausman d-o-t com. No firms, please … I’m looking for high quality freelancers to join my just-in-time teams. Thanks.

The blogosphere is buzzing about Stephen Colbert’s scathing speech at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on Saturday.

But if you want some real substance packed into 3 minutes, check out this hot Colbert clip — an interview with Iraq vet and outspoken war critic Paul Rieckhoff. Paul is a friend and former client. (He’s not a Governor, though … Comedy Central typo, I guess!)

Having worked with him from the beginning of launching his organization, Iraq and Afghanistan Vets of America, I can proudly say that Paul has become the top spokesperson for returning vets.

If anyone is in the NY area on May 10, you should definitely come see Paul, me, and a line-up of great bands at the IAVA’s spring benefit.
