The Hotline blog just combed through the FEC reports of the presidential candidates and reported what they spent on their web operations.

My takeaway: Hillary came in at $713k for consultants; Obama at $247k; Edwards at $36k. No way that Hillary has gotten three times the results out of her web presence than Barak, or 20 times than Edwards. The figures may be fudged – companies often agree to withhold billing until after an FEC filing date, to make their candidate’s earnings look better – and some of Hillary’s costs may be normal percentage cuts of online credit card transactions. Even so, Team Barak and Edwards are clearly getting more bang for their bucks.

Just goes to show, money can’t buy you online love.
